EL FESTIVAL COLOMBIANO DE TEATRO CIUDAD DE MEDELLIN

Is a project created by the Corporación Ateneo Porfirio Barba Jacob, established in 2002 as a homage to Colombian professional theater. It has become a space for encounter with, reflection on, legitimazation, and promotion of Colombian theater in its relationship with artists and aesthetics from other parts of the world. So far there have been eight festivals, occurring each year the second week of October. 

Over the course of its eight festivals, 13 international theater groups, 41 Colombian groups, and 94 groups from Medellin had participated. More than 140,000 people have attended. 17 directors of national and international festivals have visited us. More than 700,000 dollars worth of free press has been generated by the festival for the city thanks to this theater celebration.
